Al Farouq Street Dualization — Salalah

Sahnawt Area, Salalah City, Dhofar

Al Farouq Street is a primary north-south artery in Salalah, connecting Al Maamoura Roundabout in the north to the Salalah–Muscat Road in the south. AHAR converted its entire 7.6 km length from a single carriageway into a full dual carriageway under a contract that commenced in 2024.

The upgraded road features two lanes in each direction, seven-metre service roads on both sides to provide access to adjacent residential and commercial properties, three new signalised intersections with integrated pedestrian phases, and box culverts at key drainage crossings.

A fully integrated rainwater drainage network runs the length of the project — a critical upgrade for a street serving the densely populated Sahnawt neighbourhoods that are vulnerable to Khareef flooding. Pedestrian walkways on both sides, modern LED street lighting, and traffic-management infrastructure complete the package.

The project was delivered on schedule. Together with Al Sultan Taimur Street, Al Farouq forms one of AHAR's two most significant contributions to the citywide road modernisation programme in Salalah.
