Dhofar University Campus — Phase 1

AHAR's construction of five key buildings on Dhofar University's permanent campus represents a transformative contribution to higher education in southern Oman. Dhofar University is the first private university in southern Oman.

The Phase 1 campus was built on a 450,000 m² (45-hectare) site in the Al Sa'ada district of Salalah, designed to blend contemporary architecture with authentic Omani heritage.

AHAR's five buildings include: the College of Engineering (with advanced laboratories), the College of Commerce and Business Administration, the Common Classrooms Building, the Student Activity Centre (seating over 1,000), and the University Mosque. All buildings were designed with vertical expansion capacity, full accessibility compliance, 24/7 WiFi coverage, and integrated security infrastructure.

The cornerstone was laid in 2007 by H.E. Ali bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Royal Court Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, and the campus was inaugurated in 2010 to mark the Sultanate's 40th National Day under the patronage of H.H. Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said. Enrolment grew from 1,500 students in 2004 to over 6,000 by 2016. Today the university holds QS 5-Star accreditation and ranks 851–900 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
