Al Sultan Taimur Street Reconstruction — Salalah

Al Sa'ada, Salalah City, Dhofar

Al Sultan Taimur Street is one of Salalah's busiest commercial arteries, connecting Al Sa'ada's dense urban core to the wider city network. AHAR upgraded its full 6.8 km length from a congested single carriageway to a modern dual carriageway under a contract awarded in 2023.

The project forms part of a comprehensive Salalah road modernisation programme, which simultaneously upgrades Sultan Qaboos Street (9 km), Al Farouq Street (7.6 km), and the Ateen Tunnel (1.35 km).

The scope covers the full spectrum of modern urban road infrastructure: signalised intersections with integrated pedestrian phases, off-street parking bays serving adjacent shops, pedestrian walkways on both sides, a comprehensive rainwater drainage network engineered for Salalah's intense Khareef monsoon, modern LED street lighting, and full utility integration.

Works began in 2024, with the roadway opened to traffic ahead of the peak Khareef tourist season — which brings more than one million visitors to Salalah each year. The project was completed ahead of schedule and stands as one of AHAR's most visible contributions to the capital of Dhofar.
