Treated Effluent Network — Operation, Maintenance & Reuse, Salalah

This project delivered the operation and maintenance of Salalah's treated-effluent distribution network and its use in the aquifer-recharge and landscape-irrigation programme — a system commissioned by Salalah Sanitary Drainage Services Company (SSDC). The contract covered the pipeline network, injection wells, monitoring wells, and associated control chambers of the Salalah Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) scheme.

The scope included pipeline integrity checks, injection-well servicing, pump and valve maintenance, coordination with SSDC's operations teams on the monitoring-well network, and real-time performance reporting. The MAR scheme uses approximately 27,000 m³ of treated water per day drawn from the Raysut Water Reclamation Plant — a system that has pushed the saline front back by approximately 700 m and reduced groundwater salinity by 12% since the early 2000s.

The project positioned AHAR at the heart of one of the region's most consequential environmental engineering systems — a scheme that has become a reference case for sustainable water management in arid coastal agriculture.
